Well you’ve done it again. Gone in to the tunnels of my mind and my library and succinctly described a missing piece of the puzzle. I have been looking at Cry proteins for quiet some time. These are related to click genes and are also homologous to human alpha-crystalline. This paper from 2015 https://www.nature.com/articles/nature15630#:~:text=A%20small%20segment%20of%20%CE%B1,Parkinson's%20disease%20and%20other%20synucleinopathies. Crystals of a toxic core was discussed on an episode of the TWIM podcast. In more recent years I’ve looked at what happens to the antibodies that build up and also at whether these can be prion like templates for other bacterial pore forming toxins. There’s a 3 leg to the stool - food science, ag science and human science. VERY few converge in this space with understanding. You are one of them. Keep going. There’s more to this story.
